Kickoff time set for Bears’ season opener

Mercer’s football team will open its season Sept. 1 against The Citadel in the Southern Conference opener for both teams, and it was announced Friday that the game will kick off at 7 p.m.

The Citadel has defeated Mercer the past two seasons with both games being decided by two points.

Mercer has a five-game home schedule this season at Five Star Stadium. The Bears are 15-6 at home the past three seasons. Mercer will also host Tennessee Tech (Sept. 17), Western Carolina (Oct. 15), East Tennessee State (Nov. 5) and Furman (Nov. 19).
