Mercer’s Conard Broom named to freshman All-America team
Mercer’s Conard Broom was named to the 2016 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team, which was announced by the staff at Collegiate Baseball on Wednesday.
Broom, a right-handed pitcher, is the sixth Mercer player to earn a spot on the Louisville Slugger team since 2008 and second in as many years. He joins teammate Trey Truitt (2015), while Chesny Young (2012), Derrick Workman (2011), Jacob Tanis (2009) and Joe Winker (2008) also received the honor.
Broom led the nation with 41 appearances and led the Bears with a 3.57 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched while posting a 4-3 record.
