Demarcus Robinson picked by Kansas City in NFL draft
Former Peach County standout Demarcus Robinson was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday in the NFL draft.
Robinson, who left Florida after his junior season, was picked in the fourth round. The 6-foot-1 wide receiver finished his career with the Gators with 106 catches for 1,355 yards and nine touchdowns.
Robinson slid in the draft because of off-the-field concerns. He was suspended four times at Florida, although three of those came during his freshman season.
“There were a lot of questions, a lot of doubts,” Robinson said. “I just had to let everyone know that was in the past. That was my freshman year. I’m a changed guy. … I haven’t done anything wrong since my freshman year. Just letting them know, let them know I’m a changed man by my actions.”
Robinson joins another Middle Georgia player, former Dodge County and Georgia standout Leonard Floyd in this draft. Floyd was taken in the first round by the Chicago Bears.
Georgia Tech had two players selected: Adam Gotsis in the second round to Denver and DJ White in the sixth round to Kansas City.
Georgia Southern’s Antwione Williams was picked by Detroit in the fifth round.
