Mercer's Stephon Jelks named to all-conference team

Mercer basketball player Stephon Jelks was named to the coaches' All-Southern Conference 10-player team Tuesday.

A sophomore, Jelks was named to the media's all-conference second team.

"I'm really proud of Stephon Jelks for achieving this honor," head coach Bob Hoffman said. "It really speaks volumes to the hard work and effort he has put into his game over the summer and during this season to get to this point. He has played a huge role for us this season, and I am glad to see him receive the recognition he deserves."

Jelks averaged 12.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

Mercer faces The Citadel on Friday in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament in Asheville, North Carolina.
