Mercer head coach Bobby Lamb names captains

Mercer head coach Bobby Lamb announced Monday that six players have been named captains for the 2015 season.

Wide receiver Jordan Marshall, quarterback John Russ and offensive lineman Kirby Southard will represent the Bears’ offense, while safety Lendell Arnold and linebackers Tosin Aguebor and Tyler Ward were elected on defense.

“When this year’s voting was finalized, these young men stood out above the rest, which led us to appoint six captains this year,” Lamb said. “Being elected as a team captain by your teammates is one of the highest honors that an individual can receive in team sports and shows the amount of respect the entire program has for their character and leadership skills.”

All six players are juniors. The Bears open their season at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Austin Peay.
