Doug Hanzel repeats at GSGA Georgia Senior Championship

Savannah’s Doug Hanzel fired a 6-under-par 66 in the final round to defend his title at the Georgia Senior Championship on Friday at the Brickyard at Riverside.

Hanzel finished at 11-under 205 (70-69-66), 13 strokes ahead of runner-up Mel Mendenhall of Marietta. Hanzel has won three of the past four Georgia Senior Championship titles.

“I hit it very good from day one,” Hanzel said. “I hit it very solid, putted very steady. I had a couple three-putts but made some nice putts, as well. I struck the ball well, hit all 18 greens in regulation (Friday).”
