Jeremy Mayweather returns to Georgia College as women’s assistant coach

One of the best players in Georgia College basketball history has returned to the school as an assistant coach for the women’s team as Jeremy Mayweather was hired by head coach Maurice Smith.

The Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year in 2005-06 while playing for the Bobcats, Mayweather spent last season as a men’s assistant coach for Armstrong State. He also has worked as men’s assistant coach at Central Georgia Technical College for two seasons and as a volunteer assistant for Georgia College’s women’s team during the 2013-14 season.

“We are very excited to add Jeremy to our staff,” Smith said. “He brings lots of knowledge from previous coaching positions along with his playing experience here at Georgia College. His energy and passion will be an incredible asset for our program. His overall character will be drawn upon greatly to continue to move this program forward.”

A native of Stathan, Mayweather played for two seasons at Georgia College, leading the Bobcats to the NCAA Southeast Region title game as a senior in 2005-06, averaging 13.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
