Mercer holds its first two-a-day practice session

Mercer completed its first two-a-day practice of the 2015 preseason Tuesday, going through a pair of two-hour workouts at Five Star Stadium.

Sophomore running back Tee Mitchell had the highlight of the day when he leaped over a defender for a touchdown reception to start off the skeleton segment.

Tight ends Derek Owings and Robert Brown had strong days in the red zone as quarterback John Russ had a strong day throughout.

Safety Lendell Arnold had another strong day, while linebacker Corey Lockett split time between the two outside linebacker positions.

“God was smiling on the Bears (Tuesday) with great weather for both practices,” head coach Bobby Lamb said. “We were a little sluggish early, but I thought we really picked it up during the team sessions and really got after it. Our offense bounced back from yesterday and that is what happens when a unit really takes pride in what they do.”
