Rex Brothers called up from minor leagues to join Braves

Rex Brothers was called up from the minor leagues Thursday to join the Atlanta Braves. He replaces Bartolo Colon, who was released in his first season with the team.

Brothers has a 16-11 record in his five seasons in the major leagues, all with Colorado. He last pitched in the majors in 2015 with the Rockies.

Brothers talked about joining the Braves’ organization in March as a guest on “The Bill Shanks Show.”
