Wright ready to make jump into professional baseball with Atlanta Braves
Vanderbilt’s Kyle Wright was the Atlanta Braves’ first draft pick Monday, taken with the No. 5 selection.
The right-handed pitcher went 19-11 during his Vanderbilt career with a 2.79 ERA. He was 6-1 as a freshman, 8-4 as a sophomore and 5-6 this season as a junior.
Wright started 35 games in his college career, including 16 each of the past two seasons. He has 290 career strikeouts and 86 walks.
Wright talked about joining the Braves as a guest on “The Bill Shanks Show.”
