Drew Waters was selected in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves on Monday.

Waters was named the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year, and he led Etowah the GHSA Class 7A championship this season. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound outfielder batted .510 (53-for-104), with 15 home runs, four triples and 13 doubles this season.

Waters has signed with Georgia but says he will bypass college to head to the professional ranks.

He talked about being drafted by the Braves as a guest on “The Bill Shanks Show.”
