Mercer falls on the road to Clemson
The Mercer Bears dropped to 5-5 overall and 0-2 on the road with a 90-47 loss to Clemson on Saturday.
The Bears have lost four of their past five games, and they travel to Auburn on Dec. 18.
Ria’n Holland led the Bears with 12 points, hitting 4-of-9 shots from the floor. The junior was the only Mercer player to reach double figures in scoring.
Mercer shot 30.4 percent (17-of-56) from the floor.
Donte Grantham led five Clemson players in double figures with 19 points. Jaron Blossomgame added 16, while Shelton Mitchell and Gabe Devoe each had 13, and Avry Holmes had 10.
The Tigers (6-2) hit 13 3-pointers.
Mercer women 67, West Georgia 36
Sophomore KeKe Calloway scored 21 points to lead three Mercer players in double figures as the Bears improved to 8-2.
Kahlia Lawrence and Kayla Potts scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, as the Bears improved to 5-0 at home.
Calloway had her fourth 20-point game of the season and added four rebounds. Lawrence added six rebounds and two assists, while Potts had eight rebounds, two blocked shots, an assist and a steal.
Sydni Means finished with nine points, nine assists, three rebounds, a block and a steal.
Mercer travels to Winthrop on Dec. 18.
