Mercer’s Lawrence, Means named to All-Southern Conference preseason team

Juniors Kahlia Lawrence and Sydni Means helped lead the Mercer women’s basketball team to the co-Southern Conference regular-season championship last year.

And the two were rewarded for their strong sophomore seasons Thursday when they were named to preseason All-Southern Conference team. Lawrence was the Southern Conference Player of the Year last year, leading Mercer with 18.0 points per game while averaging 5.5 rebounds per game. Means led Mercer and the conference in assists (189), assists per game (5.7) and assist/turnover ratio (2.91) while averaging 9.4 points.

Mercer was picked second in the conference by the coaches and the media members. Mercer received three first-place votes from the coaches and five from the media.
