Mercer men’s soccer team faces key game at Furman

The tight Southern Conference regular-season men’s soccer race continues Tuesday as Southern Conference-leading Mercer travels to Greenville, South Carolina, to face Furman in the Bears’ final road game of the season.

Mercer is 11-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference as it tries to win its second regular-season title since joining the conference in 2014. The Bears are in first place in the conference with 18 points, while East Tennessee State is second with 17 and UNC Greensboro is third with 15. East Tennessee State and UNC Greensboro play each other Tuesday night, and Mercer hosts East Tennessee State on Saturday.

A win in both matches this week would give the Bears the outright regular-season title, while a draw or loss in either match leaves the door open for several scenarios.
