Mercer’s golf team came up just short of its first team title of the season Tuesday, finishing second at the F&M Bank Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay.

When the Bears made the turn in the final round, they pulled one stroke ahead of Missouri State. But Missouri State recovered to pull out a five-shot win over the Bears.

Mercer had two top-five finishes in the individual race as freshman Kiko Rosete — playing as an individual — tied for second and senior Justin Connelly tied for fifth. Brennan Bogdanovich finished tied for 17th after a team-best round of 1-under-par 71 in the final round.

Rosete finished at even, while Connelly finished at 2 over. Mercer’s top four golfers finished in the top 20.
