Strong conference opener for Mercer men

The Mercer men’s soccer team opened Southern Conference play Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Wofford. The Bears improved to 6-3 overall, getting goals from Will Bagrou and Conner Antley.

“This is a tough league, and we play a double round-robin, so they are going to be ready for us when we go to their place,” head coach Brad Ruzzo said. “You really do have to take care of your home games. We had to regroup. We had a tough week last week. I felt like our guys were able to regroup and had a lot more energy (Tuesday). I am really proud of them for coming out and getting a good result (Tuesday) against a good team.”

Mercer travels to East Tennessee State on Saturday.
