Western softball all-stars win first two at state

The Western Little League 12-year-old all-star softball team has won its first two games at the Georgia state tournament in Cassville.

Western opened with a 7-1 win over Habersham on Saturday, then Western topped West Point 13-1 on Sunday. Western will take on Bartow County at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, with the winner advancing to the championship game of the double-elimination tournament.

Sierra Ussery and Megan Sharpe have handled the pitching duties for Western, with Ussery striking out 15 between the two games.
