Live updates: West Virginia vs. Virginia

8:30 p.m.West Virginia wasted little time in finishing off Virginia 11-3 after a rain and lightning delay of an hour and 58 minutes. The game was stopped in the top of the sixth with two outs and a runner on for West Virginia, which had already scored four times in the inning. The rest of that inning and the bottom of the sixth took 11 minutes, delayed only by a pitching change for West Virginia.David McQuain, Angelo Hall and Michael Gaskill each had three hits for West Virginia, which moves on to a Wednesday semifinal with a 2-1 record in pool A.Virginia fell to 1-2.Warner Robins' game against North Carolina, originally a 7 p.m. scheduled start, will begin in about 15-30 minutes. The stands are pretty much full.

8:17 p.m.: The game is scheduled to restart in a few 5 minutes, and then the Georgia-North Carolina game will follow.

6:24 p.m..Apparently, the prayers weren't strong enough, and rain stopped the game at 6:21 p.m. with West Virginia up 11-3 in the top of the sixth with a runner on first and two outs. Rain first, and then lightning, so this game will be stopped for at least half an hour, but most likely longer than, especially with lightning. This game still has one out in the top of the sixth and the bottom of the sixth to go and then a break, so the Warner Robins-North Carolina game is looking at, guessing, an 8 p.m. start, although that appears optimistic at this point.

6:06 p.m.West Virginia added two runs in the fifth while Virginia got one back in the bottom of the inning, but West Virginia still has a solid 7-3 lead entering the top of the final inning.

5:35 p.m.Sam Swiger took over on the mound for David McQuain and has kept Virginia in check as West Virginia holds a 5-2 lead entering the the top of the fifth of the 4 p.m. game at the Little League Baseball Southeastern Region Tournament on Monday.Virginia scored twice in the bottom of the first and Swiger moved to the mound with two outs in the bottom of the second. He retired five of his first six batters and stymied a Virginia rally in the fourth.

5:02 p.m.West Virginia put across three runs in the top of the first, watched Virginia counter with two in the bottom half, but the Mountain State added a homer from David McQuain for a 4-2 lead after two innings of Monday's 4 p.m. game at the Little League Baseball Southeastern Region Tournament.

The first inning ended with Virginia's Patrick Francisco getting thrown out trying to steal home.

The bottom of the second began with the aroma of rain finding its way to the park as a very slight sprinkle started, and picked up a little during the top of the third.
