Baldwin softball team reaches title game

For the second year in a row, the Baldwin County All-Star softball team headed to the championship game at the Little League state tournament. Held both years in Elberton, manager Walter Green has coached both years. His nieces, Karlie and Kaylie Harding, twins, are on the team.

Baldwin County beat Harris County Little League 9-6 Tuesday in a semi-final game.

Going into the top of the fourth inning, Baldwin County was leading 9-1.

“We just lost focus,” Green said.

The manager attributes some of his success to not staying in a hotel like most teams. The players and their parents have been making the two hour one-way drive to Elberton from Milledgeville for every game.

“It’s an advantage to sleep in their own bed,” he said.

Baldwin will play against Bartow County at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
