Scott becomes first Aussie to win Masters

AUGUSTA -- Adam Scott made a birdie putt on the second playoff hole Sunday to beat Angel Cabrera and win the Masters, becoming the first Australian to win at Augusta National Golf Club.

Scott made a 20-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole of the tournament to seemingly clinch the win. Cabrera, however, landed his approach on the 18th hole to a few feet and made the birdie to force extra holes.

Cabrera nearly won on the first playoff hole, missing a birdie chip-in by less than a foot. The Argentine missed his birdie putt on the second playoff hole (No. 10 at Augusta National) by a narrow margin. Scott stepped up and drained his putt from about 15 feet away.

Scott's countrymen Jason Day and Marc Leishman finished third and tied for fourth, respectively. Tiger Woods also finished tied for fourth, making him the highest finishing American.

Scott's putt comes just two major championships after he blew a lead in the British Open.
