Mayhem’s Skelly hangs up his skates

After leading the Macon Mayhem in scoring during the team’s inaugural season, forward Shawn Skelly has announced his retirement.

Skelly, 29, is joining the coaching staff at Adrian College, an NCAA Division III program in Michigan. He spent five seasons in the SPHL, starting the 2015-16 season in Knoxville before being picked up by Macon following his release from the IceBears’ roster.

With the Mayhem, Skelly scored 26 goals and had 32 assists.
