Was that wedding real? Sacramento pastor officiates Bad Bunny halftime nuptials
A couple really did get married on the field while Bad Bunny performed at the Super Bowl LX halftime show Sunday — and a Sacramento pastor officiated.
“Now that the secret is out... it was an honor for me as a Latino and as a follower of Jesus to be present for this historic moment,” Antonio Reyes wrote in Spanish on a post to Instagram with video of the wedding. “I will have more to share with you all.”
Reyes is a pastor at Project Church in south Sacramento, according to an earlier Instagram post by the church.
“Beyond proud of you,” read one comment on Reyes’ Instagram post.
“Epic!!!! Profound. I def screamed & felt so proud! So excited for more doors to open! We are with you!!” read another comment.
Was the halftime show wedding real?
Yes, the couple really got married during the Super Bowl halftime show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, The Hollywood Reporter said.
During the show, Bad Bunny performed his 2025 song “Baile Inolvidable” on the main stage while the couple got married on the field.
The couple had invited Bad Bunny to their wedding, and he in turn invited them to get married during his halftime show, The Hollywood Reporter said.
Bad Bunny served as their witness and signed their marriage certificate, the publication said. The couple also cut their wedding cake on stage.
Their names have not been released.
What else happened at halftime show?
“The only thing more powerful than hate is love” was emblazoned on a digital billboard behind Bad Bunny as he stepped off the stage at the conclusion of his Super Bowl LX halftime show performance.
The whole show was a celebration of Latin influence on American life from fruterias to celebrities and from construction workers to artists.
Bad Bunny kicked off the show with “Tití Me Preguntó” — which earned Time magazine’s best song of 2022. He followed up it up with his remix of the 2004 Daddy Yankee hit “Gasolina,” called “EoO.”
As the theatrical stage performance with dozens of dancers and several sets moved through Bad Bunny’s set list, celebrity cameos were also highlighted, including Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal, influencer Alix Earle and Cardi B.
Bad Bunny’s performance welcomed two features. Lady Gaga performed a salsa-version of her 2024 song “Die With a Smile.” And Ricky Martin performed Bad Bunny’s “LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii.”
Right before the conclusion of the show, Bad Bunny performed his 2022 song “El Apagón.” The song is a celebration of Puerto Rico and an acknowledgement of the U.S. territory’s struggle for resources. The title translates to “power outage.”
During the song, the reggaeton artist scaled sparking power lines and waved the Puerto Rican flag.
As he exited the stage, he held a football in his hands with the words “Together we are America” written across it as singers and dancers shouted the names of every country in North and South America.
Who is Bad Bunny?
Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer and record producer.
The Puerto Rican reggaeton artist was announced to headline the Super Bowl LX Halftime show following his historic Puerto Rico residency that drew more than a half million fans for his new album “DeBi TiRAR MaS FOToS.”
Bad Bunny’s career highlights include three Grammy Awards, 17 Latin Grammy Awards, eight Billboard Music Awards and 13 Lo Nuestro Awards. He was the most-streamed artist on Spotify from 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2025.
He rose to stardom after his 2016 song “Diles” and continued to climb with features on prominent artists songs such as Cardi B’s “I Like It.”
Since then Bad Bunny has made the U.S. Billboard 200, his second solo album, “YHLQMDLG” became the highest-charting all Spanish album to appear on the Billboard 200, followed by his compilation album “Las que no iban a salir.”
His following three albums topped the Billboard 200 with his fourth solo album — “Un Verano Sin Ti” — spending 13 weeks atop the Billboard.
That album was named the best-performing album of 2022 and became the first Spanish album to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
