Super Bowl celebrity sightings: Who’s in Bay Area, Northern CA ahead of big game?
It’s the biggest game of the year, and the stars are basking in an array of Super Bowl festivities in and near the Bay Area.
Athletes or otherwise, there’s been no shortage of celebrities spotted in Northern California, with Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara hosting Sunday’s Super Bowl LX between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.
A number of famous faces have been spotted during the week beyond the two teams’ rosters and halftime performer Bad Bunny.
Cardi B
Rapper Cardi B has close ties on the field for Sunday’s game, for all four quarters plus the halftime show.
She’s been in a relationship since last year with Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs, and the pair welcomed a son in November.
Cardi B is also rumored to make an appearance alongside Super Bowl halftime headliner Bad Bunny. The latter featured on Cardi B’s 2018 hit, “I Like It.”
The San Francisco Standard reported Cardi B was spotted at a private party Friday night in San Francisco’s Mission District.
Chris Pratt and Jon Bon Jovi
A Hollywood actor, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” star and Seahawks fan, Pratt will have the honors of introducing Seattle players as they take the field ahead of kickoff Sunday, TMZ first reported.
Musician Jon Bon Jovi, a friend of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, will reportedly introduce New England players, according to TMZ.
E-40 and Too Short
E-40, a longtime fan of the 49ers, Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants can often be seen sitting close to the action at games.
Oakland rapper Too Short, best known for his 2006 hit “Blow the Whistle,” took the stage with E-40 for a set prior to Thursday’s NFL Honors awards ceremony at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts.
George Kittle
The San Francisco 49ers star tight end saw his season end in brutal fashion with an Achilles tear during a playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
George Kittle’s having fun nonetheless, because that’s what he does. He, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce and other NFL stars at the position hosted a “Tight Ends & Friends” party Thursday in San Francisco, co-hosted by Sports Illustrated.
Jason and Travis Kelce
The Chiefs failed to make the playoffs this season. But Kelce’s still taking part in this week’s revelry, seen DJing as part of Kittle’s “Tight Ends & Friends.”
Travis used the event in part to promote the “New Heights” podcast he runs with brother Jason Kelce, a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Travis Kelce’s engagement to Taylor Swift has led to as-yet-unsettled speculation about whether the superstar singer-songwriter will be at Levi’s Stadium this Sunday.
Jerry Rice
If it’s a big deal for the NFL, the 49ers or both, odds are pretty good that legendary Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice will be there.
Rice has been well-involved as the 49ers’ home stadium hosts Super Bowl LX, including on Tuesday when he played catch at the Flag Girls High School Football Showcase at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.
Tom Brady
Retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady has clear connections to Sunday’s game in the Bay Area — he played his first 20 NFL seasons, and won six of his seven Super Bowl titles, with the New England Patriots.
But San Mateo native swung through Sacramento first, on Thursday, to celebrate the grand opening of his CardVault sports cards and collectibles store. Fans of Brady and the Patriots waited in line for several hours at the Downtown Commons plaza outside Golden 1 Center for a chance to meet him and get autographs.
“When Chris (co-founder Chris Costa) and I talked about where we wanted to start in California, I said it’s gotta be in Sacramento,” Brady said to a crowd of hundreds of fans.
