Cox has been a fixture within the Braves’ organization with two stints and 25 years as manager as well as a five-year run as general manager from 1986 to 1990. Even after stepping away from the daily operations, Cox has served as a consultant with the team.
Cox compiled 2,149 victories in his time as Braves manager, which leaves him fourth on the all-time win list. The Braves won 14 consecutive division titles under his guidance and captured the 1995 World Series championship. Along with the wins, Cox also holds the record for most managerial ejections with 158.
Tuesday’s exhibition will be played at SunTrust Park, with the first pitch slated for 7:35 EST.
