Peach County at Warner Robins

The Trojans haven’t been 0-2 since 2005, when they opened with Northside and Carver in Alabama (and then fell to 0-3 with a loss to Houston County) and went on to win 12 straight and the GHSA Class 3A title. The Demons haven’t been 0-3 since 2010 in what ended up as a 2-8 season.

Howard vs. Central (at Henderson Stadium)

Six days after participating in the Macon Touchdown Club Kickoff Classic, the Huskies and Chargers meet in a series where the past three games have been determined by eight points or fewer.

Rutland vs. Northeast (at Thompson Stadium)

A couple of 0-1 teams look to improve on their opening games.

Northside at Westside (at Ed DeFore Sports Complex)

After losing to another Bibb County team for the first time in program history, Westside faces “Big Blue” after a two-year layoff in a series that Northside leads 9-1.

Eagle’s Landing at Houston County

Yes, “at” Houston County, as Freedom Field finally gets some action, and perhaps a running clock in that debut. Can Eagle’s Landing — a 39-13 loser to Eagle’s Landing Christian in the opener — hold Jake Fromm to fewer than 400 yards passing? Two better teams haven’t.

Dodge County at West Laurens

Barely 20 minutes separate the schools. Dodge County is ranked in Class 2A and West Laurens is on the verge of a ranking in Class 4A.

Jackson at Lamar County

Jackson battled Class 4A Mary Persons, and Lamar County — a half hour away — is coming off a 14-13 road win at Northeast. These teams haven’t played since 2005.

Macon County at Irwin County

Easily one of the top games, with the Bulldogs on a roll and the Indians — who have been to two straight championship games — off a 56-19 pasting by Class 2A contender Fitzgerald. These two may have a rematch.
