FPD’s Moore among champions, Vidalia takes second in Class AA

FPD's Titus Jones was among three Middle Georgians to win titles Saturday at the GHSA boys track and field championship in Jefferson, with Vidalia taking second place in Class AA to top the area teams.

Also winning individual titles were Telfair County's Javonta Wilcox in the Class A public 200 meters and Clayton Harvey of Montgomery County in the Class A public 400, with the Montgomery County 4x100 relay team and Vidalia's 4x100 team in Class AA.

Vidalia's 61 points were eight behind Wesleyan in the Class AA race, with Bleckley County setting a program record with a third-place finish with 43 points.

Montgomery County was third in Class A public with 60 points, nine more than fourth-place Hancock Central and 10 more than fifth-place Telfair County. Twiggs County was seventh and Treutlen ninth, giving Middle Georgia half of the top 10 in the classification.

FPD finished fifth in Class A private.

Moore ran a 14.61, matching his qualifying time. He topped the 14.75 of George Walton's Cedric Robertson. Moore was seeded second in the 300 hurdles and finished third.

Vidalia got a second-place finish Saturday from Tyquan Powell in the 300 hurdles and third-place finish in the 4x400 relay.

Wilcox of Telfair County also was second in the 100, as was Twiggs County's Javarie Lawson in the 800.

Eastside won the Class AAAA title by 27 points, while Cedar Grove cruised to a 35-point win in Class AAA. Landmark Christian won Class A private by 23 points and Commerce took Class A public by 37 points.
