Stratford, Taylor County and Telfair County eye GHSA tennis titles

The GHSA girls state track meet is underway, and the next set of state champions will be crowned Saturday in tennis at the Clayton County International Park Tennis Center.

Stratford’s girls go for the GHSA Class A private tennis championship Saturday morning against Brookstone, last year’s runner-up. Taylor County will try to defend its Class A public girls title against Irwin County.

Telfair County faces Irwin County in the Class A public boys final.

The GHSA soccer semifinals are Tuesday with finals May 12-14.

Baseball quarterfinals for classes AA through AAAAAA are Tuesday and Wednesday, while the Class A semifinals are Monday and Tuesday with the championship series starting next Saturday and finishing two days later. The other classifications follow a week later, on May 21 and 23 with finals.

The boys state track meet starts on Thursday, two days before the state golf tournaments.
