GHSA girls soccer quarterfinals set for Saturday
Four Middle Georgia teams remain in the GHSA girls soccer playoffs, and the playoff road gets considerably more difficult from here.
All four Middle Georgia teams — Peach County, Stratford, FPD and Lamar County — face programs from metro Atlanta, the area of the state that overwhelmingly dominates the sport in Georgia, in Saturday’s quarterfinals.
Peach County, whose 17-1-2 season includes no losses at home, hosts Blessed Trinity at 6 p.m. in a Class AAA quarterfinal. The Trojans are unlisted in the Score Atlanta Class AAA rankings, while Blessed Trinity (11-6-1) is ranked third.
For the second straight season, Stratford and FPD are on opposite sides of the Class A bracket and could meet in next weekend’s championship at Five Star Stadium.
Third-ranked Stratford (15-0) will host unranked Mount Pisgah (11-4) at 6 p.m., while second-ranked FPD (14-2-2) travels to 10th-ranked Walker (15-2) for an 8:30 p.m. contest.
Unranked Lamar County (13-5) hosts third-ranked Lovett (10-5) at 5 p.m. in a Class AA quarterfinal.
