Tunji Afolobi-Brown, Mount de Sales, track and field

Afolobi-Brown had a pair of wins in a meet at Stratford, taking the 1,600 meters in 4:50 and the 3,200 in 10:51.

Mark Barrow, Stratford, tennis

Barrow was 8-1 at No. 1 singles before an injury sidelined him for three weeks. He returned to help Stratford to a third-place finish in the Area 1-A tournament, going 2-1 at No. 2.

Carl Ellis Corley, Bleckley County, track and field

The senior standout won the 800 (1:59.09) and 1,600 (4:45) in a meet at Lamar County.

Blake Dawson, Houston County, baseball

The senior outfielder went 4-of-8 with three RBI and five runs in a doubleheader rout of Lakeside-Evans in a GHSA Region 2-AAAAA playoff series.

Tres Hattaway, Mount de Sales, baseball

The Cavaliers outfielder went 5-for-8 in a pair of wins over Stratford.

Adam Leverett, Mount de Sales, baseball

Leverett threw a complete game in one meeting against Stratford, striking out 12. In two games against the Eagles, he went 4-for-7 at the plate.

Nick Maiorana, Mount de Sales, soccer

Maiorana had four goals and an assist in the Cavaliers' 9-0 win over Tattnall Square.

Kory Rousey, Rutland, baseball

Rousey countered an 0-for-3 day at the plate in a 13-3 win over Central by striking out 11 Chargers in six innings.

Will Simmons, Bleckley County, track and field

Simmons cleared 13-7 at the Lamar County meet, a height that is just short of the 14-0 that won the Class AA title last year and a foot short of the 14-7 that was first in Class AAAAAA.

Jake Thornton, Howard, baseball

The shortstop went 5-for-7 with five RBI in games against Ola and West Laurens.

GIRLS

Emily Barnes, Mary Persons, soccer

Barnes had five goals in a 10-0 win over Baldwin.

Michaela Black, Mount de Sales, soccer

Black had half of the Cavaliers' goals in a 6-0 win over Tattnall Square, adding an assist.

Kayleigh Buie, Howard, soccer

The Huskies' keeper had a busy night, with 23 saves on 25 shots in a 2-1 loss to West Laurens.

Elizabeth Copelan and Lora Kate Diponzio, Stratford

The duo went 2-1 at the Area 1-A tournament at No. 1 doubles for the second-place Eagles. Their only two losses of the season (16-2) have been to Brookstone's No. 1 team.

Eliza Freedman, Stratford, tennis

Freedman went undefeated at the Area 1-A tournament to help lead Stratford to a runner-up finish.

Tanner Fuller, Gatewood, track and field

The sophomore took firsts in the shot (33-6) and discus (97-2) in the home meet.

Maggie Johnston, FPD, track and field

The returning All-Middle Georgia first-team discus thrower won that event at Stratford with a mark of 144-6, about 11 feet better than her best of 2015, and took the shot with a 37-5.

Emma Lako, FPD, soccer, track and field

Lako helped the Vikings to wins over Westminster (3-0) and Brookstone (5-1) with two goals. She also won the 300 hurdles in a meet at Stratford.

Emory Sutherland, Stratford, soccer

Sutherland accounted for four of Stratford's six goals in wins over Northside-Columbus (4-0) and Mount de Sales (2-0), adding an assist in the Northside-Columbus win.
