Perry's Drew Martens to continue baseball career at ABAC

Perry baseball standout Drew Martens' college baseball career will start not too far away from home.

The 6-foot-4 pitcher signed on Wednesday with ABAC. He's batting around .450 this season for the Panthers, who are contending for the GHSA Region 2-AAAA regular-season title.

The Stallions have several Middle Georgians on this season's roster, including Dodge County's Cain Peterson, Bleckley County's Caleb Slaughter, Veterans' Preston Sparks and Hawkinsville's Dakota Sloan.

Blake Jackson of Houston County transferred to ABAC from Georgia Tech last summer after his freshman season.

Warner Robins fullback/linebacker Connor Johnston will sign on Wednesday with Tusculum.

Tusculum head coach Jerry Odom was head coach at Coffee from 2005-07 and has coached at Florida, East Carolina and Jacksonville. The Pioneers went 4-7 in 2015.

Mount de Sales girls track and field athlete Brendon Coats will be signing with Limestone College on Wednesday.

The sprinter finished second in the GHSA Area 1-A private school meet last season in the 100 and 200.
