Kristy Alvarez named FPD softball head coach

FPD lacrosse head coach Kristy Alvarez has added the duties of softball head coach, the school announced in a release Wednesday.

Alvarez was the softball head coach at Central-Carrollton from 2000-03, where her team won two region titles. She went on from there to serve as assistant coach at Lindsey-Wilson College, then she became the head coach at Kell in 2005.

At Kell, Alvarez's teams won a region title in 2008 and made the Elite Eight a year later. She took a break from softball in 2010 after amassing a 143-67 record.

Alvarez takes over from Jim Turner, who retired after the 2015 season.
