Peach County's Tyrique McGhee signs with Georgia

There was no drama for Peach County’s Tyrique McGhee on Wednesday, and that’s just the way he wanted National Signing Day to go down.
In fact, he was the first new Georgia football player to send in his national letter-of-intent after committing to the Bulldogs last year. McGhee, who played a little bit of everything for the Trojans — receiver, quarterback and defensive back — is set to play cornerback for the Bulldogs.
“It’s good,” McGhee said. “It’s a dream come true to have friends and family come out and finally seal the deal. It’s real good.”
McGhee wasn’t trying to be the first recruit to get his paperwork to the Bulldogs’ coaching staff. That’s just the way things worked out. Again, no drama.
“I just sent it in as soon as possible to make it official,” he said. “It’s nice to get it over with and move on to the next chapter of your life and get it done and get on campus and soon as possible.”
McGhee said his winning attitude and work ethic are the most important attributes he is taking to Athens. The 5-foot-11, 177-pounder is listed as a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com.
“As far as the intangibles you look for in a defensive back, ball skills, mobility, turning the hips, high-pointing balls, I think he’s as good, at his age, as good as you can get,” Peach County head coach Chad Campbell said. “What separates him from some other guys is he tackles very well, and he’s a physical kid.
“Sometimes you have a kid who can do this or do that, but he’s a kid who can do it all at that position. I tell him all the time, ‘Don’t worry about three-star or four-star,’ he’s a football player, and that’s what Georgia’s going to get.”
