Prep roundup: Northeast hosting Copeland Classic; GHSA wrestling
Northeast to host Copeland Hardwood Classic
Northeast will be the site of the Copeland Hardwood Classic, a five-game basketball event, on Monday.
The slate begins at noon with a girls game between Americus-Sumter and Thomasville. Washington's boys take on East Coweta at 1:30 p.m., followed by a girls game between St. Francis and Laney at 3 p.m.
Northeast's girls host Rutland at 4:30 p.m., and Northeast's boys round things out at 6 p.m. against Americus-Sumter.
The event is named after former Northeast girls head coach Alvin Copeland.

West Laurens, Treutlen place in GHSA wrestling
The major of Middle Georgia teams had their trip to the GHSA dual wrestling tournament end on Friday, but a few area teams survived into Saturday.
West Laurens beat Locust Grove 43-33 but lost 46-27 to North Hall to finish fourth.
In Class AA, Jeff Davis lost Friday 42-27 to Armuchee for the chance to wrestle for third. Lovett knocked off Fitzgerald 49-27 in the same consolation round.
In Class A, Treutlen topped Turner County 39-34 on Friday but lost 47-25 to Trion and took fourth place.
State champions were, in order of classification from Class AAAAAA: Archer, Camden County, Gilmer, Jefferson, Social Circle and Commerce.
