HELP WANTED

A pair of 2-8 seasons has led to the end of L. M. Guy's stint as head coach at Toombs County.

Guy took over the Bulldogs in January of 2014 after going 28-15 in four seasons at Richmond Hill. From 1998-2004, Guy went 47-39 at Robert Toombs Academy.

"Coach Guy and I had a conversation," superintendent Richard Smith told www.toombsnow1.com after the meeting in which Guy's resignation was accepted. "And we decided it was time to make a change and move forward.

"We put a lot of thought, a lot of prayer into this, and what we feel like what we've done is made the right decision for Toombs County High School and for our team and our program."

The Bulldogs' next head coach will be their fourth since 2012, when Shane Williamson left to take over at Forsyth Central.

Steve Versprille lasted one 4-6 season before being dismissed.

The Bulldogs had 15 straight winnings seasons from 1994-2008, but only one since then.

Grovetown, a Region 2-AAAAA opponent for the four Middle Georgia teams, will have its second head coach.

Rodney Holder, who started the program, resigned recently after the Warriors' 5-5 season. Holder went 6-4 in the program's first season, 2009, and he departs with a 29-41 record.
