Many Middle Georgia teams are on the road this week
Teams playing at Marion County need everything they can get against the successful Eagles.
Twiggs County is hoping for a road version of a 12th man and is organizing a bus for the Cobras' first-round playoff trip this week. Cost for a seat on the bus is $10, with the game ticket to be purchased separately at Marion County.
A student bus is also being planned. Cost for students is $15 and includes a game ticket.
Buses will leave at 5 p.m., and the deadline for reserving a seat is noon Thursday, with payments in cash. Parental permission is required for students.
The Cobras have a pretty tolerable trip of about 85 miles, according to Score Atlanta, which tallied up the mileages for this round of the playoffs. The Cobras have the second-shortest in Class A public and third-shortest in all of Class A, which begins the postseason this week.
The four shortest in Class A public involve all four Middle Georgia teams: Telfair County (67 miles to ECI), Wilkinson County (107 miles to Irwin County) and Dooly County (115 miles to Clinch County).
FPD has a tolerable trip of 89 miles to Prince Avenue Christian, but Stratford players better get comfortable. It's about 180 miles to Calvary Day.
The same goes in Class AA for Fitzgerald (184 miles to Heard County) and Vidalia (184 to Greater Atlanta Christian).
Peach County will ride about 162 miles to take on Class AAA power and defending champ Calhoun, about 10 miles more than Westside's trip to Sonoraville.
St. Pius X is about 146 miles away for West Laurens in Class AAAA.
Houston County, Mary Persons, Dodge County and Macon County are the only area teams at home.
