CFCA's Jada Jackson signs with Alabama A&M
CFCA athletics director and softball head coach Josh McLendon had an interesting chat with Alabama A&M softball head coach Nakeya Hall earlier in the week, and it made McLendon realize just how big of a recruit that senior pitcher Jada Jackson was.
"She was telling me she wanted Jada's letter-of-intent as soon as she could get it because Jada is that good of a pitcher," McLendon said. "Coach Hall described her as a game-changer and the type of player that can re-energize a program. I think that is a pretty accurate assessment of how Jada can be at the next level."
The CFCA senior signed her national letter-of-intent with Alabama A&M on Friday.
"When I took my official visit about a month ago, I knew right away Alabama A&M was where I wanted to be," said Jackson, who was also considering Southern and Texas Southern. "The girls on the team were all so nice, and Coach Hall was great, and I already know one girl on the team and another that is going to sign with them, so it really felt right. I could not be happier with my decision."
Jackson has had a phenomenal run for the Lancers. During her three-year carer, she has led them to two region championships and a GICAA championship, winning 52 games with 448 strikeouts -- both program career records. She saved her best for this year, when she led CFCA by winning 22 games and striking out 182 batters in 111-2/3 innings. She also batted .459 with 27 RBI.
"Central Fellowship has meant so much to me over the last three years because everyone from the administration to the teachers really care about you," said Jackson, who transferred from Warner Robins. "I think it has definitely helped prepare me for college. The Alabama A&M team is returning a lot of players next year, so I will just keep working hard and hope to earn as much playing time as I can."
