Houston County now highest-ranked Middle Georgia team

Thanks to a solid 21-point win over No. 1 Northside, Houston County jumped from seventh to third in the final Georgia Sports Writers Association poll of the regular season. The final one will come after the championships.

The Eagles fell to fourth and still got a first-place vote. Stockbridge, which ended Houston County's season in the playoffs last year, moved into No. 1. Jones County fell one spot to No. 6.

Dodge County enters the playoffs ranked fourth in Class AAA, improving two positions.

Staying put are Mary Persons at No. 4 in Class AAAA and Fitzgerald at No. 5 in Class AA.
