Wayne County has tough trip ahead to Mary Persons

It's not as if Wayne County doesn't have enough of an uphill climb entering the Class AAAA playoffs.

The Yellow Jackets are 3-7, having lost six of their past seven games after a 2-1 start, and have cracked the 20-point mark only once in that late stretch.

But they're playing at Dan Pitts Stadium, which is used to happy Fridays for homestanding Mary Persons.

The Bulldogs have won six straight and 11 of their past 12 at home. And Mary Persons has won five of its past six home playoff games.

Under head coach Brian Nelson, the 10-0 Bulldogs are 22-2 at home, the lone losses coming in regular-season finales and region title games to Veterans and West Laurens the past two years.
