Ex-Mount de Sales standout Chris Swain has big game
Chris Swain is getting some serious national love.
The former Mount de Sales standout scored three touchdowns and ran for 108 yards on 18 carries in Navy's 45-20 thrashing of then-No. 15 Memphis.
The performance earned him a visit to an ESPN college football show and a shout out as a "best of the weekend" on the national Dan Patrick Show.
In the process, he was an easy pick for American Athletic Conference offensive player of the week.
The senior fullback has 690 yards and eight touchdowns n 136 rushes, an average of 5.07 yards per carry. He is 3 yards from passing last year's 13-game total and has doubled his touchdown output.
He has 1,957 yards and 17 touchdowns on 362 carries in his Navy career. That puts him within reach of the top 10 in program history, the No. 10 spot occupied by Alexander Teich, who had 2,146 yards on 410 carries from 2008-11.
And the Midshipmen are up to No. 22 in the latest AP poll and No. 20 in the College Football Playoff Rankings.
