Veterans' Avery Lamb, Perry's Mattie Hamilton lead all-region softball team

Avery Lamb of Veterans, Logan Calhoun of West Laurens and Mattie Hamilton of Perry took top individual honors on the coaches' GHSA Region 2-AAAA softball team.

Lamb was named the top pitcher and Calhoun the top player, both helping their teams reach the Elite Eight in Columbus. Hamilton was voted the top offensive player.

Perry had the most players make the first and second teams, with nine, followed by Mary Persons and Veterans with seven each.

All-region teams should be sent to sports@macon.com upon completion, with stats for the players of the year.
