GHSA Class A private school playoff scenarios
In Class A private, the only teams that qualify automatically are region champions. The rest of the 16-team field in both brackets is filled out through a power rating formula.
Listed by each team is power rating points and overall record.
PRETTY SAFE
10. Stratford (12.25, 6-2)
Stratford already has clinched a spot in the Region 7-A crossover championship game, with the Eagles hosting the winner of Friday's Lincoln County-Aquinas game. Stratford is at Wilkinson County this week, and a win there should wrap up a playoff spot, if the Eagles haven't done so already with their 2.25-point lead over 17th-place FPD.
ON THE BUBBLE
17. FPD (10.00, 4-4)
With only an at-large berth to play for, the math gets tricky for the Vikings. FPD hosts Twiggs County this week, then the Vikings will host a crossover opponent. FPD is 0.22 points behind Athens Christian for the final playoff spot at this point, so anything can happen. One game to watch this week: Eagle's Landing Christian (fourth in the power ratings) hosts No. 19 Our Lady of Mercy in a game that could decide the Region 5-A title. If Our Lady of Mercy pulls the upset and winds up winning the region, then one of the at-large spots will go away if Our Lady of Mercy doesn't climb into the top 16.
OUTSIDE LOOKING IN
23. Tattnall Square (7.66, 3-5); 24. Mount de Sales (7.50, 2-6)
With more than 2.5 points to make up, it's highly unlikely that either the Trojans or Cavaliers will make the postseason.
