IN CONTENTION

Games left: vs. Grovetown, vs. Jones County
Grovetown 4-4, 3-4
Games left: at Warner Robins, vs. Richmond Academy
Lakeside-Evans 3-5, 3-4
Games left: at Greenbrier, at Cross Creek
Easiest remaining schedule: Lakeside-Evans (road games, but at the bottom two teams in the region)
Toughest remaining schedule: Warner Robins (only because Jones County is left)
Scouting report: The suspense as to who continues is fairly minimal.
Warner Robins has a two-game lead over Grovetown and Lakeside-Evans.
The math gets real shaky if the Demons lose this week to the Warriors. If through some shocking development Warner Robins, Grovetown and Lakeside-Evans were tied, the region tiebreaker involves a variety of equations involving points allowed.
But Warner Robins has beaten Grovetown by 24, 49 and 21 in their three meetings, and the Warriors are on a two-game losing streak (37-14 to Lakeside and 28-7 to Northside), and have to break that at McConnell-Talbert Stadium.
The suspense after that is about seeding. Barring even more unbelievable circumstances, Houston County and Northside basically will play for the top seed Nov. 6 ... or not.
If Houston County wins, and Jones County wins two straight -- under the assumption of winning this week against Augusta teams -- then there's a three-way tie.
And we know that Northside beat Jones County, which beat Houston County.
The math? After head to head, tiebreakers are based on points allowed amongst the tied teams.
If you really want to get funky, consider the possibilities -- again, assuming results against Augusta teams -- of Warner Robins beating Jones County and Northside topping Houston County.
Then we'd have three teams tied for second with two region losses. So we won't go there.
