Easiest remaining schedule: Spencer (Jordan is out of playoff contention, while Kendrick is all but out).

Toughest remaining schedule: Westside (Peach County game likely will decide the No. 2 seed).

Scouting report: Although it trails by a half-game in the standings and has not wrapped up a playoff spot yet, Jackson is in the driver's seat for the region title by virtue of its 3-2 win over Peach County. The Red Devils will win the region with victories in their final two games, but a loss would open the door for Peach County should the Trojans beat Westside on Friday.

Even if Jackson wins out, Peach County will claim a first-round playoff home game with a victory Friday at the Ed DeFore Sports Complex. A Westside victory opens up the No. 2 seed to the Seminoles, with Spencer, the surprise team in the region this season, also in the picture for the No. 2 spot.

That No. 2 spot, while it gives that team a first-round home game, might not be desirable. The winner of that first-round contest likely will have to travel to defending Class AAA champion and top-ranked Calhoun for the second round.

With only one game remaining, Peach County is the only team in the region to have clinched a playoff spot. That said, it would take an upset for anyone other than Jackson, Spencer or Westside to make the playoffs. The most plausible scenario for Central to get in would be for the Chargers to win their final two games and for Kendrick to upset Spencer, but there are other, more complex paths available to Central, as well.

Kendrick and Southwest are mathematically alive, but their playoff bids are long shots at best.
