Spencer defeats Westside in key GHSA Region 2-AAA contest

A late Westside drive stalled deep in Spencer territory Saturday, and Spencer hung on for a 22-16 victory in GHSA Region 2-AAA football action at Kinnett Stadium in Columbus.

The game had significant implications on the region's playoff race, especially for Central. With Spencer's win and Central's loss to Jackson on Friday, the Chargers now need outside help in order to reach the playoffs.

In other action Saturday night, Kendrick defeated Southwest 42-40 at Henderson Stadium.
