Westside receiver Steve Dolphus committed to Georgia Tech on Wednesday, following in a string of Middle Georgia players who have joined head coach Paul Johnson's program.

"We were excited when we found out," Westside head coach Spoon Risper said. "He fits their mold. They like big guys. They have had some nice pros come out of there the last few years. It's an honor to play at a school like Georgia Tech."

The 6-foot-5, 203-pound senior has 412 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 31 catches this season. He forms half of a 1-2 senior receiving tandem with Gerimie Mitchell, who has 462 yards and seven touchdowns on 29 catches.

Rivals initially reported the commitment, noting that Dolphus committed Wednesday morning after visiting Georgia Tech last weekend for the Yellow Jackets' game against Pittsburgh.

The website 247Sports reports Georgia Tech offered Dolphus in May, and that he also had offers from Mississippi, Virginia and Cincinnati, among others.

Dolphus is the second Westside player to commit to a FBS program in two weeks. Last week, defensive end Abdul Davis committed to South Alabama.

The Seminoles (6-1, 4-1 GHSA Region 2-AAA) play Spencer on Saturday in Columbus.
