CFCA softball sweeps Sherwood in GICAA semifinal series

CFCA earned a spot in the GICAA fall softball championship with a doubleheader sweep of Sherwood Christian on Thursday.

The Lancers won 13-0 and 17-0, with the first game going four innings and the second going three innings.

Leadoff batter Marilynn NeSmith went a combined 5-for-5. The junior shortstop scored three runs in the first game and had three RBI in the second. Carley Ingle went 5-for-6 with six RBI.

Senior pitcher Jada Jackson, who has 173 strikeouts in 97-2/3 innings pitched and 0.71 ERA for the season, struck out nine in improving to 20-3.

CFCA hosts Thomas Jefferson for the GICAA title on Saturday, with the first game scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
