Milestone watch for a couple of Middle Georgia standouts

• Warner Robins receiver Marquez Callaway isn’t far from taking over the top spot on the Demons’ all-time pass-catching list.

Callaway is tied with Mike Styles (1996-98) with 86 catches and trails Styles by 311 yards for first in that category.

Callaway’s 1,175 yards are still behind Clyde Jackson (1,440, 1978-80) and Zedrick Womack (1,414, 1987-89).

• Houston County quarterback Jake Fromm is 217 yards from the No. 21 spot on the state’s all-time passing yardage list, with Zach Folsom of Cook (2009-11) next.

Fromm has 54 touchdowns passes, and the list compiled by the Georgia High School Football Historians Association stops at 60 with 21 players listed.

Nick Marshall (Wilcox County) tops Middle Georgia quarterbacks with 103 touchdown passes (second in the state behind Deshaun Watson’s 159 at Gainesville) and 8,043 yards (10th).
