Westside’s Knowlton accounts for six touchdowns at Jordan

With quarterback Savion Knowlton passing for four touchdowns and running for two more, Westside rebounded from its first loss of the season Saturday with a 42-21 win at Jordan.

Coming off a two-point loss at Jackson, Westside strung together three passing touchdowns after spotting Jordan a 7-0 lead when Red Jackets linebacker Markus Wright, a California commitment, picked off Knowlton and ran it back 32 yards for a score a little more than a minute in.

Knowlton had 9-yard touchdown passes to Steve Dolphus and Donta Pate, as well as 13-yarder to Gerimie Mitchell. Jordan quarterback Romello Kimbrough had scoring runs of 24 and 28 yards, but Knowlton responded with touchdown runs of 3 and 7 yards.

The other touchdown came in the fourth quarter, when Knowlton found Ty’gee Cunningham from 24 yards out.

Westside (6-1, 4-1 GHSA Region 2-AAA) returns to Columbus’ Kinnett Stadium this Saturday when it takes on a surging Spencer team that defeated Southwest and Jackson in back-to-back weeks.
