Jerin Means, center, and the Howard Huskies are 4-0 entering their game Friday night against West Laurens.

West Laurens at Howard (Ed DeFore Sports Complex): Howard has four wins in a season for the first time in program history, and GHSA Region 2-AAAA play hasn’t even started yet. The Huskies open region play against a West Laurens squad that is coming off a three-point loss to unbeaten Westside. Both teams were off last week.

Perry at Mary Persons, Friday: Perry’s offense struggled again last week after putting up points against Macon County the week before. The Panthers have to get going on offense and face a defense that isn’t fancy but is just making plays.

Lincoln County at FPD: After a three-touchdown loss to Howard, FPD has bounced back with wins over Monticello and GMC. Lincoln County has won all three meetings in this series, but two of the three games were fairly close.

Stratford at GMC: The Bulldogs have all four Macon GHSA private school programs on their schedule. Stratford will be looking to give the Macon teams a sweep.

Manchester at Northeast (Thompson Stadium): Northeast’s only road win last year came at Manchester.

Piedmont at Windsor: A pair of GISA teams with winning records meet at Windsor, with both teams having the capability to score a lot of points.

Baldwin at Upson-Lee, Friday: The homestanding Knights have cruised to a 3-0 record but finally get a test against a team with a winning record. Baldwin regained momentum after getting smashed by Tift County with a win over Thomasville. The Knights took a two-point victory a year ago.

Tattnall County at Dodge County, Friday: The Indians are going for their first 5-0 start in a long time against a quality team from Reidsville that is coming off a 35-0 win over Savannah. Interestingly, this is Tattnall County’s first road game of the season.

Metter at Dublin, Friday: The Region 3-AA opener is a good one. Metter’s lone loss is to ECI, but the Tigers have two shutouts already. Dublin, meanwhile, has surrendered just 19 points in four games.

McIntosh County Academy at Jeff Davis: Region 2-AA took a turn with MCA’s upset of Vidalia last week for its first win of the season. Jeff Davis suffered its first loss at the same time and now faces a team with confidence that should be a bigger challenge than expected.
