Westside, Dodge County enter Class AAA top 10
Westside and Dodge County made their season debuts in the Georgia Sports Writers Association poll in Class AAA, giving Middle Georgia three teams in that class.
Dublin made its first appearance of the season, taking No. 10 in Class AA, just behind No.9 Macon County and No. 8 Vidalia.
Four of the top 15 teams in Class AAAAA in Georgia will play this week at McConnell-Talbert Stadium. Two of the top five go Thursday as top-ranked Northside welcomes No. 5 Jones County, while No. 3 Houston County battles No. 15 Warner Robins on Friday.
The Eagles, Greyhounds and Bears maintained their positions. Northside got 14 first-place votes and Houston County the other two, with No. 2 Ware County nine points ahead of Houston County. Warner Robins picked up a point and remained at No. 15.
Region 2-AAAA has a pair of ranked teams, Mary Persons moving up three spots to fifth and West Laurens falling three to eighth. Howard got four points, good for 15th.
Peach County picked up three spots to No. 7 in Class AAA, three points ahead of Hart County and five behind Cedar Grove.
Fitzgerald stayed put at No. 2 in Class AA, losing a little ground on top-ranked Benedictine, with Greater Atlanta Christian creeping closer.
Middle Georgia remained shut out of the Class A poll.
